Xacom is a UK-based project controls consultancy and APMG-accredited training provider.

They deliver expert consultancy in scheduling, earned value management, risk management and schedule quality, helping clients in aerospace, defence, utilities and transport to optimise project performance and compliance.

Xacom’s bespoke training covers leading tools—Primavera P6, Deltek Acumen, Cobra and Microsoft Project—and APMG-certified project planning and control. Combining technical expertise with practical support, Xacom helps organisations collaborate, engage and achieve successful outcomes.

The challenges

Keen to grow, but stuck in delivery mode
Michael Higgins, Founder and Managing Director, was determined to grow the business but found himself caught in the demands of day-to-day delivery. There was limited breathing room to step back and plan for the future.

Shifting from delivery to growth wasn’t easy. Michael knew that moving Xacom forward meant changing his own mindset — and that of the team — to focus on scaling, not just delivering.

Our Founder Director, Jason Kingston, started with informal power hours and support calls, giving Michael space to offload, reflect, and share ideas with someone who understood the realities of running a growing business. A sounding board when it mattered most.

Structured sprints
The approach evolved into more structured monthly power hours and quarterly half-day sprint sessions with Michael. Each sprint included a full review of progress, targets, and priorities.

Strategic tools and governance

We introduced strategic tools to help Michael map out revenue goals, pipelines, and actions. Our work together covered governance and process mapping — documenting the full journey from lead generation through onboarding, and setting clear procedures across people, IT, and sales.

Marketing Alignment 

To drive Xacom’s scale-up journey, we brought in our Marketing Lead, Eve Maguire, to turn the brand strategy into a focused, actionable marketing plan. 

This gave Xacom the tools to clearly communicate its value, connect with the right audience, and showcase its growth story to the world.
