Leading housing association

embeds Lean Six Sigma to strengthen project delivery

The results summary

The client

Livv Housing Group is a housing association based in the North West, dedicated to creating thriving communities through quality homes, opportunities, and support.

With a strong social purpose, Livv focuses on improving lives by investing in people, places, and services that make a lasting difference.

The challenges

The drive to continuously improve

Livv Housing has a clear ambition: to keep improving the way it works — across processes, culture, and people. All to better serve its communities.

The organisation wanted a consistent, structured approach to improvement that everyone could align around.

Lacking a clear set of process improvement tools

Livv had an established project management methodology, but lacked a clear, consistent set of business and process improvement tools.

The focus of the engagement was to build capability across the organisation — equipping teams with practical improvement approaches that strengthened delivery and lifted the effectiveness of project outcomes.

Building on strong relationships and expertise

Livv already had a trusted relationship with Cube Thinking, built on authenticity, credibility, and a track record of delivering outcomes.

Working with Jason Kingston, whose lived experience in the housing sector brings both empathy and expertise, Livv saw the opportunity to embed a methodology that truly fit its purpose.

The solution

Introducing a consistent improvement framework

Working with Cube Thinking, Livv introduced Six Sigma training to the Projects team to give them practical, structured tools that help identify inefficiencies, improve problem-solving, and create more consistency across project delivery.

Bespoke delivery

The Cube Thinking delivery approach was centred on the learners, their learning styles, and the environment they worked in.

Rather than relying on a fixed curriculum, each element was bespoke and designed to maximise knowledge transfer.

Jason and Lead Consultant, Kevin Ollivier, considered the desired learning outcomes, the inputs needed to achieve them, and adapted content to suit visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic learning styles.

This also included tailoring the approach to the social housing sector and ensuring methods were relevant and practical for real project delivery.

By paying attention to both the content and the way it was delivered, Cube created training that truly resonated with teams.

Making it easier to absorb, apply, and carry forward as a lasting impact across the organisation.

Guided support through every project

Cube Thinking’s approach isn’t about facilitation for facilitation’s sake — it’s about walking alongside teams through delivery post-training. The sessions created space for reflection, learning, and real progress, helping teams complete projects with clarity and confidence.

Hands-on investment in people

Beyond methodology, Cube Thinking’s focus was on people. Face-to-face coaching and ongoing support ensured that Livv’s teams didn’t just gain certification — they developed the capability and mindset to sustain improvement long-term.

The results

Livv has already mobilised four projects using the new approach, each tackling key problem statements within the repairs and change portfolios.

Teams now have a clearer sense of direction, improved confidence in delivery, and a shared language for improvement.

Through a consistent methodology and genuine investment in people, Livv Housing continues to strengthen its culture of continuous improvement — delivering lasting value for its communities.
