Cube Thinking supports the launch of the Mary Coombs Supercomputer

Cube Thinking was proud to be part of a significant moment for UK innovation at the industry stakeholder event marking the launch of the Mary Coombs Supercomputer.

The supercomputer marks a major step in the democratisation of high-performance computing, enabling organisations to move from research to real-world solutions faster, more efficiently, and at greater scale.

Facilitating industry impact

Cube Thinking was honoured to chair the panel, Driving Industry Impact with High Performance Computing, alongside experts from analytics, AI, and consultancy.

The discussion explored how business analytics, process mapping, and digital transformation, when paired with quantum and AI capabilities, can unlock innovation and performance across industries.

Our contribution

In 2024, Cube Thinking worked with the STFC Hartree Centre to provide feedback on its five-year strategy, grounding digital ambitions in practical business needs and strong culture.

The Mary Coombs Supercomputer is part of the Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation programme – bringing accessible, ethical, and high-powered computing to industry.

Much like plaiting strands of hair, we see culture, process, and digital data as interdependent. When woven together, they create the conditions for lasting transformation.

By linking this supercomputer with the Cube Thinking methodology to high-performing SMEs, the potential for meaningful impact is clear.

Accessible and ethical innovation

The Mary Coombs Supercomputer makes high-powered computing available to all organisations with data and research needs. This accessibility ensures innovation is no longer the preserve of large corporations.

Equally important, the Hartree Centre remains fully government-funded and ethically led – a vital commitment at a time when AI-generated misinformation poses real challenges.

Its approach ensures computing power is used safely, responsibly, and for positive progress.

A step forward for the UK economy

The launch of the Mary Coombs Supercomputer is more than a technological milestone; it’s a statement of intent for the UK’s future in ethical innovation and data-driven growth.

“Our work with the Hartree Centre demonstrates how cultural alignment and digital capability go hand in hand. We're proud to have contributed to this industry launch event and to continue supporting organisations as they harness the next generation of computing power for growth and transformation."
